A landmark in Cork and holds the distinction of being Ireland’s oldest covered shopping arcade. It opened in March 1926, providing a stylish and sheltered passage between Winthrop Street and Oliver Plunkett Street—Cork’s prime retail thoroughfare. The arcade was designed by the eminent architectural partnership Levie & Chillingworth, who were responsible for several of the city’s commercial landmarks. Their design gave the Arcade a distinctive character, notably featuring original mahogany shopfronts, bronze frame display windows, ornate clock, and a beautiful glass dome that still survives today
